Mosquito Control - answers

What is the best yard treatment for mosquitoes?

The most effective approach pairs a barrier treatment of mosquito resting areas with source reduction that removes where they breed.

Pest Proof Pest Management in the Manassas, VA area

Barrier plus source reduction.

Adult mosquitoes spend most of the day resting in cool, shaded vegetation, not flying. A barrier treatment targets those resting areas - the underside of leaves, dense shrubs, mulch beds, and fence lines - so mosquitoes pick up the product where they rest.

The second half is breeding control. A mosquito can complete its life cycle in a bottle cap of standing water, so we locate and address the sources on your property: gutters, drain trays, tarps, toys, and chronic low spots. Treating adults without cutting the breeding sites means a fresh hatch every week.

For properties with persistent water features or heavy shade, an in-season program that combines both, on a three to four week cycle, holds pressure down far better than a single spray.

Do mosquito misting systems work?

They can help in the right setting but need maintenance and refills. For most yards a scheduled barrier program with source reduction is the better value.

Can I treat for mosquitoes myself?

Store products help briefly. Professional barrier products last longer and the source-reduction inspection is where most of the lasting gain comes from.
